A Glimpse…

We want to give you a glimpse into part of our day. From 11:00 – 11:30 each day, our class engages in what we call “Group Time.” It is really a period of our day where I get to do some math intervention with our students. Math intervention can be focused on reteaching concepts that a student might not grasp, or be used to challenge students who are ready to go above and beyond. The video below shows you how Mr. Kooiker’s class and my class share our computer cart to engage all students in meaningful math activities while we work with students one-on-one or in small groups. Below the video is the video description as it is state on Youtube. It will give you more information about what you see happening.

Description: Here is a look into what our class does during intervention group time. Some students are playing a math fact game. Others are using Study Island to practice and reinforce Common Core math topics we’ve covered in class. While this is happening two adults are pulling students to provide targeted help or advancing challenges in math. Also, students are testing how fast they can complete multiplication facts on an iPad. The students manage the time themselves.
