Meet Mr. Bowen

Hello!
 MirandaParkerPhoto-19
I am originally from Ithaca, Michigan.  I graduated from Hope College in 2008 and I am in my ninth year of teaching.  I have taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, and it’s all been at Georgetown Elementary.  I am married to my amazing wife Cara, and we enjoy spending time at the beach, taking walks, and hanging out with friends. We have a daughter, Melia (Muh-leah), who is 18 months old. I love being able to spend time with her and watching her grow up. We are also expecting the birth of our second child in February of 2017!

Outside of family time, I enjoy outdoor sports of any type from hiking and kayaking to golfing, running, or playing a game of soccer. I can also be found at What’s the Scoop many nights in the summer.

I am in my ninth year as a volunteer football coach for the Hudsonville Football Program. I am an assistant on the varsity team, and I work with the program’s special teams (my specialty being kickers and punters).  I was a kicker and punter for the Hope College Football Team from 2004-2007.

I am a firm believer in young people and their power to change the world in a positive way.  My hope is your child will not only leave fourth grade prepared for next year, but will also feel empowered to take measured risks without fearing failure.  A confident and critically thinking fourth grader can do great things!  Some of the most influential people in history failed numerous times before finding their meaningful role.  The video below highlights a few.  I hope to get to know all of you over the course of the year, and cannot wait to embark on a great learning journey with every student.  Feel free to ask any questions via the blog or you can email me at cbowen@hpseagles.net.

Grace and Peace,

Mr. Bowen
